MICROWINERY CREW

Michelle Courtroul
Michelle is the Wine Program Coordinator, and
the woman who keeps the three men in the team from
mindlessly walking into walls, or at least padding
the walls for us. Michelle has years of vineyard
experience under her belt along with a Bachelors
degree from the University of California at Santa
Cruz. In addition to coordinating the wine program,
Michelle also manages our literary and educational
programs. And since the rest of us are not, for
good reason, permitted to handle time or money, she
does that for us as well.

Peter Kirchner
Peter assumed the
winemaking duties for Microwinery after earning his
Bachelors degree from the University of California at
Santa Cruz. The experience he gained working in the
vineyards while an undergraduate made for an easy
transition, as the grapes he vinifies come from the
very same vineyards he worked. Equipped with the
scientific background and practical experience,
Peter understands the art behind the science, and
the science behind the art. That, in turn, allows
him to transform the grapes he tasted in the
vineyards into the wine you get to taste in your glass.

Eddy Szyjewicz
Eddy is the
third of our UC Santa Cruz graduates, having been a banana slug before
matriculating into an aggie at UC Davis. Growing grapes, making
wine, marketing, research, publishing, teaching, if it involves wine,
Eddy does it. Until being rear-ended in 2000 and undergoing a
series of surgeries, Eddy was both the hands-on vineyard manager and
winemaker. By diversifying into a team under Eddy's supervision,
he can now create even more than ever before. Look for his new
vineyard book and check out the teaching program
he is resurrecting. Eddy is back!
