1999 Three Dog Vineyards
Cabernet Sauvignon Our ultra-premium
wine, made in only the finest brand new French oak barrels every single vintage,
demonstrates why old-vine wines are so treasured. The decades-old vines
produce unparalleled fruit that is fermented in small lots based upon vineyard
characteristics from the areas they were harvested. The wines
are slowly fermented, cellared, and bottle-aged to perfection. The 1999, a
phenomenal year, is our current release, with only 176 cases produced.
Please note that there is only one retail outlet in any given zip code, so
precious are our annual volumes of this elixir.

Alexander's Steakhouse in Cupertino, CA features Three Dog
Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon on their wine list. Here's what their
sommelier, Eric Entrikin, had to say:
"I first tasted the Three Dog Vineyard in a cellar in
Woodside, after it had been open in the glass for about 2 hours. I was
amazed at the complexity in the wine and surprised by its age. It seemed like
a recent remake of the great wines of California from the 60’s and 70’s. The
great structure with that tell-tale California fruit of ripe black currants
and red cherries, seemed all the more impressive with accents of iron, dried
herbs, and oak spice. The wine comes from a small vineyard planted in
Portola Valley in the mid-sixties, which could explain why it tastes like a
wine from a bygone era. If you have enough guests at the table, I highly
recommend a side by side tasting of this wine and the Argiano Brunello."-Eric |
